This week, we’re reminiscing on past travels and daydreaming of our future ones. We caught up with our Founder, Dorie Teitelbaum, for a quick Q&A on some of the BESTS IN TRAVEL to reawaken your wanderlust.
Q: THE BEST MULTIGENERATIONAL FAMILY TRIP?
A: A safari for sure! I hate the term “bucket list” because it feels so limiting. There is SO much to see in this giant world, but if there is anything that should be on the top of your list to experience with your family, it’s a safari. Seeing animals in their natural habitat conjures up so many emotions, tapping into our curiosity, fear & excitement. The setting is mystical for children, parents and grandparents alike and is some of the most incredible bonding time. Not to mention, the accommodations and the food will blow your mind away- the word glamping does not even begin to describe how luxurious the experience can be!!
Q: THE BEST HONEYMOON TRIP?
A: I always advise clients that the best honeymoon is one that combines total relaxation with adventure. For me, it’s always been impossible to sit on a beach for a week. But I could go for weeks if I hopped between beach, city and adventure destinations. Since travel is such a big part of most people’s lives, it’s important to test your travel comforts early on in a marriage. If one person loves to read and relax and the other loves hiking and sightseeing, Andiamo can always figure out a way to combine a little bit of each, so no one feels compromised. It’s always so fun to help couples craft the best trip for their relationship. Our favorite combo right now is the Maldives and 2-3 cities in Southeast Asia like Luang Prabang, Siem Reap or Chiang Mai.
Q: THE BEST MILESTONE BIRTHDAY TRIP?
A: Paris is ALWAYS a good idea. It is the perfect destination for an impromptu trip or for a trip perfectly curated months in advance. With so much to do in this city, it’s impossible to get bored. My favorite thing to do is explore the beautiful streets of St. Germain Des Pres and taste the famous Bertillion ice cream. Whether you have 3 days or 7 to celebrate the big day, you will never leave feeling dissatisfied… but you will leave trying to nail down a date that you will return… that’s if of course Andiamo plans it for you
Q: THE BEST CARIBBEAN ISLAND?
A: St. Barth’s hands down. This island has been my favorite for years now. There is no other island that offers nightlife, incredible restaurants, fabulous shopping, luxury hotels and 20 beaches! Do we need to say more?
Q: THE BEST ADVENTURE TRIP?
A: New Zealand! Queenstown is Aspen’s sister city and the adventure capital of the world. With endless activities from bungy jumping to mountain biking to world class golf resorts. This country is full of picturesque scenery in BOTH the north and south island, making it a destination that should be on everyone’s wish list if they have a thirst for adventure and a high tolerance for long plane rides! Plus, the Kiwis are some of the friendliest people I have ever met. This is truly one of my favorite trips to plan for clients because I know the moment they check in to their lodge they will be floored. I get so excited for that moment! The next best moment is once they try the food at the lodge! NZ believe it or not is a wildly popular culinary destination. My perfect NZ itinerary would be to stay at 3-4 different lodges for 3 nights each across the North and the South.
