Andiamo's Prediction: A Very European Summer is Coming in 2021
For our Andiamo Jetsetters looking forward to next summer in Europe, the time to book is NOW - for the best deals and most flexibility! Reserve your stay for next summer’s hottest European destinations with the comfort of knowing that you can change your plans. We want to ensure that our clients secure the best deals before the travel rush for next summer!
We’ve rounded up the destinations that we have our eyes on for next summer and our top hotel picks in each region.
Spain
Exploring the South of Spain and the Balearic Islands topped our bucket list for 2020. These destinations offer timeless beauty on the Alboran Sea & the Balearic Sea as well as delicious food and wine. In hindsight, we are happy that our trip had to wait to get a chance to check out Six Senses Ibiza – set to open Spring 2021!
Puente Romano Marbella
Marbella boasts 320 days of sunshine per year, making it a perfect year-round destination and one that is sure to deliver in the summer months. This destination has long been a top destination to visit during the delicious summer months for Hollywood Elite and European Royalty alike.
Andiamo’s pick of where to stay is Puente Romano Marbella. Designed to evoke the essence of a traditional Spanish village, this resort offers a variety of restaurant and bar options, swimming pools and wellness offerings. With a golf course nearby and miles of sandy coast to explore, there is something for everyone. If you’re traveling with family or looking for your own private space this upcoming summer, we recommend one of Puente Romano’s (5) spacious Villas!
Six Senses Ibiza (Opening 2021)
This luxurious hotel is set to open its doors in 2021 with 134 guest accommodations, including townhouses, pool suites and beach caves. The property will be situated on the Northern tip of Cala Xarraca Bay and only 30-minutes from the airport. We are so excited about having another luxury option available on the island. While Ibiza is best known for its vibrant party scene, the island is also the perfect destination for some serious R&R in the sun. We anticipate that Six Senses Ibiza will fill a much needed void for a luxury hotel that far enough from the action for true wellness vacationers, yet also close enough that travelers can go into town as they please.
Hotel Villa Magna, Madrid (to be managed by Rosewood Hotels)
Villa Magna is located in the heart of Madrid, surrounded by world-renowned museums, restaurants and nightlife. While the property has always captured the culture and essence of Spanish hospitality in our books, we have no doubt that its new management by Rosewood Hotels will take this stunning property to the next level. Whether you’re looking for a city hideaway or stopping through on your way to the islands, Madrid provides a great starting point for travelers originating from the US.
France
We can’t say it enough, Paris is always on our list - any season, every year! However, we are also loving the idea of exploring French wine country and the glamorous Riviera next summer. Especially with US travelers not being allowed into the country this Summer/Fall, Andiamo travelers should be gearing up for their French 2021 summer sojourn.
Le Bristol Paris
The understated luxury of Le Bristol is what makes it feel like your home away from home while visiting Paris. Expect world-class hospitality and warmth from the moment you enter the hotel’s doors on Rue du Faubourg Sant-Honore. The elegantly adorned rooms are not quite as opulent as some of the hotel’s competitors, yet provide a sense of place and modern finishings – not to mention jaw-dropping city views. We are most excited about the newly completed renovation of the property’s garden that was commissioned last year and has recently opened to guests. It is truly a treasure to be discovered, a green oasis in the middle of the city. Enjoy an afternoon tea or aperitif with the backdrop of lush greenery and vibrant florals!
Hotel Lily of the Valley
This wellness destination set between the Riviera and Saint-Tropez offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean from the top of Gigaro Hill. This Philippe Stark designed property does not miss a beat. Think modernized French Riviera style with a certain je ne sais quois. The Wellness and Spa facilities dubbed “Wellness Village” take up over 21,000sqft of spacing, offering holistic medical and innovative techniques and programs for all of your wellness needs. Explore this Cote d’Azur location by bike or hiking, which is rare for area, or spend time on the beach and allow time to truly stand still.
Greece
The islands of Santorini and Mykonos will always remain Andiamo favorites when it comes to first-timers to the Greek Islands, but we are also envisioning exploring less-visited islands next summer, such as Paros and Kea Island, to avoid the crowds and experience more barefoot luxury.
Parilio Hotel (Paros)
The Parilio Hotel is designed with nods to traditional Cycladic architecture. The use of minimalist whites and light tones allow the beautiful natural surroundings to speak for themselves. With only 33 accommodations on-property, except soothing finishes and special touches, such as suites with private balconies, jacuzzi or private pool.
One&Only Kea Island Resort (Opening 2021)
We have the One&Only to thank for putting Kea Island on our radar. The small island is located in the Cyclades and has much to be discovered for US travelers! The picturesque island does not disappoint with charming villages, lengthy white-sand beaches and historic castles and museums. The new One&Only property will sit on 160 acres of beachfront and will be home to rooms, suites and private villas as well as a collection of Private Homes.
Portugal
Portugal is our recommendation for travelers looking for top-tier luxury and affordable travel alike. This small country is perfect for every type of traveler, whether you’re an explorer, a foodie or an adventurer. Not to mention it's one of the closest European destinations from the US! Most people have heard of Lisbon, Porto and Faro; however, don't let these cities overshadow the wonderful villages and towns in regions such as the Douro Valley, Sintra and Comporta.
Sublime Comporta
Located around an 1hr 30min drive from Lisbon, Comporta should be a stop on your itinerary if you’re looking to add a locale that is a little off the beaten path or if you’re a repeat visitor to Portugal and looking for something new to explore. Our hotel pick is Sublime Comporta, which is located on a 42-acre estate full of wild sand dunes, white-sand beaches, trees and rice fields. Think of Sublime as your luxurious getaway from reality as you step into the magical rooms, suites and villas. For couples, we recommend the Bio Pool Suites or Cabana Suites. There are also 2-5 Bedroom Cabana Villas for groups of friends or families who are traveling together!
Six Sense Douro Valley
A Wellness Retreat set amidst the famous Douro Valley wine region – need we say more? Indulge in all that this region has to offer with your home base in the 19th-century manor house sitting atop the hill and overlooking the vineyards. True to the Six Senses brand, you can expect top-tier fitness classes, cycling and hiking excursions and spa treatments and facilities at your fingertips. We also recommend doing a river cruise one day to explore the area from the water for a whole new perspective
Scandanavia
If you’ve been following travel trends like us, you know that the Northern European region of Scandinavia has been investing in interesting eco-tourism, adventure tourism and classic luxury travel over the past few years. Similar to how Iceland popped in popularity a few years back, we anticipate the same for destinations such as Denmark and Norway. The best things about these destinations is that they are becoming much easier to get to and are simple to go between.
Copenhagen, Denmark
The idyllic canal-town of Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital has no shortage of activities for all different types of travelers. Choose to explore the remarkable history, forward design and architecture or truly unique dining experiences. Andiamo’s Hotel Pick for true 5-Star luxury is the Hotel D’Angleterre
Oslo, Norway
Oslo is a vibrant city, rich with history and quirky gardens and museums. Sitting on the southwestern coast, expect views of the water everywhere you go as well as lush forests to get lost in. Norway is well known for its Viking past and the Viking Ship Museum features ships dating back to the 9th century right in downtown Oslo. We always recommend getting outside the city and exploring the less-populated villages and towns to truly experience the country.
For a uniquely Nordic experience, spend a few days in a Fjord Hotel to really feel like you’re at the edge of the world. We recommend Manshausen Island’s Glass Houses
