Our Top 3 Secluded Destinations for your next Vacay!

All of us could use a vacation from reality from this year, so why not escape to paradise this holiday season? With the constantly changing travel restrictions and testing requirements in Caribbean and Central America, Andiamo wants to make it easy for you to safely get to the beaches this season! As your Travel Advisor, we will make sure that you are informed with the latest information and are fully aware of the protocols around your destination.

This week, we’re highlighting three of our favorite secluded destinations for your next destination or for future travel inspo!

1) Antigua & Barbuda

These two tiny tropical islands are located in the heart of the Caribbean, both with lengthy natural beaches hugging the Caribbean Sea coastline. Antigua is relatively flat outside its highest elevation point, Boggy Peak. The island is characterized by costal reef formations and limestone rock. On the other hand, Barbuda is made of beaches, lagoons and abundant wildlife – more of a rugged scenery with rich foliage and wildlife. For both islands, travelers will fly into V.C. Bird International Airport and either take car or boat transport to their final destination. The Islands are open for international travel, including the US, with a curfew of 11pm to 5am daily.

Andiamo Hotel Pick: Oetker Collection’s Jumby Bay Island.

For travelers looking for luxury with a side of peace and quiet, look no further than Oetker Collection’s Jumby Bay Island. The resort is housed on its own island and is only accessible by boat. Once you arrive on the island, you will not find any cars – instead, you’ll be able to get around on lush walking trails and cycling paths. Those staying at the resort, must stay on the island for the duration of their stay. Resort reopening November 7, 2020.

2) Virgin Gorda

The third largest island in the BVIs, Virgin Gorda has a unique cultural heritage, combining its African, Indian and Spanish histories. The island is known for its yacht clubs and quiet coves as well as large beaches and protected national parks. It’s the perfect destination for those looking land and water sports. There are also many known dive spots to see amazing wildlife, such as barracuda, eagle rays, snappers and more, along with reefs and ship wreck! The island is not currently open for international tourism, but will reopen the borders for visitors on December 1, 2020

Andiamo Hotel Pick: Rosewood’s Little Dix Bay

We have been anticipating our visit to the reopening of Rosewood’s Little Dix Bay all year and are hoping to make it there this winter when the resort reopens on December 4th! This BVI island resort blends sophisticated Caribbean styles and colors with mid-century modern design. Except crisp lines and ocean views with hints of color and embellishment to ensure your sense of place. While there are a variety of rooms, suites and villas, we find the Tree House Suite to be unique to the property, paying tribute to the stilt houses erected by Laurance Rockefeller at the original Little Dix Bay in 1964.

Costa Rica is a destination for all types of travelers, regardless of age. It’s a great destination for those who are adventure-seekers, surfers and yogis alike. The different regions provide the opportunity for an unique experience everywhere you go. Our favorite regions to explore are the Arenal National Park for the rainforests and Arenal Volcano, Nosara coast for catching surf or the Papagayo Peninsula for enjoying a variety of outdoor activities. Costa Rica is truly a natural sanctuary within Central America.
